Upcycling Event @ Common Ground

This Saturday 5th September 1:30pm

 

We are delighted to announce that Diana Luke of BBC Radio Sheffield will be opening this launch event of the first ever Nether Edge Festival. There will be a series of practical workshops and several stalls all around the themes of upcycling, recycling, reuse and repair. All the workshops are free as are the refreshments 

 

We will also have book, DVD, jigsaw and games swaps so have a good old sort out and bring something along to exchange.

Come along and watch Jon from Strip the Willow create a garden bench out of pallets. This will be auctioned off for charity at the event.

 

Some of us will be producing a knitted blanket which will be raffled off, again for charity. You can bring along a contribution, using leftover bits of wool, knit one with us at the event or indeed learn to knit at the event and produce one under guidance. Size 7 needles or 4 and a half mms, width 21 cms, about 42 stitches, length 15 cms.

Barbara will be showing people how to crochet or knit lightweight carrier bags into a sturdy shopping bag. Please bring needles and a crochet hook if possible but there will be some provided. No need to book, just turn up.

 

Barbara will also will be showing us how to create rugs from old T-shirts. Bring some 

T-shirts if possible and scissors but there will be some provided. Again, just turn up. 

 

 

Maryjoan will demonstrate and teach people how to turn an unwanted skirt or jumper 

into a cushion cover or bag. Please book a place or if you are not sure you are attending until the day it will still be ok to turn up. Book by contacting Anne Barr, Tel: 07809230373 You will need to bring fabric, scissors, thread and a needle and pins.

 

Specially for kids there will be junk building and outside play, using upcycled materials. Bring along and some creative ideas on what to make. Materials provided No need to book.

 

Finally the repair man from Heeley City Farm will be with us so bring along small items that you don’t want to throw out but which you would like help to repair. No booking required.
