Ecclesall Woods Craft Courses: Introduction to Woodland Coppicing

Saturday 11th February 9.30 – 4.00pm

J.G.Graves Woodland Discovery Centre, Abbey Lane

Coppicing and pollarding takes advantage of the fact that most native hardwoods produce new growth in the spring from a stump if cut down in the dormant winter period. The wood cut from coppicing is called underwood and it is grown until the desired size and then cut down again. This not only produces excellent wood for various greenwood crafts but also extends the life of the tree. Course fee: £85 For more information please contact 0114 235 6348 or book online
